Don't Sleep On Your Dreams

Have you been daydreaming about doing some things for a while, but you just haven't gotten around to it? If you've been sleeping on your dreams, pun intended, wake up and just get started.
After I wrote my memoir, Set Me Free: A Journey Toward Self-Freedom, in 2023, I made a goal to write the novel I had planned to write years ago. 2024 came and went and the most I had gathered was ideas in my head. Nothing on paper. I had a long 2023 and maybe it had worn me out, so I needed 2024 for a gap year. Or maybe I had fallen asleep on my dreams. Whatever the reason, I realized once 2025 rolled in that I didn't want it to be another year before I at least begin to put bring my ideas together on paper.
I first started with character development and couldn't quite bring them to life like I wanted. I decided to skip the traditional outlines and character development order that most writers believe in and jumped in my way. I just started writing the story. I have finished the novel, and it is currently with my editor and will be available for pre-orders soon.
As you can see, I know firsthand that sometimes it can be hard to get started on that thing we've been dreaming of doing. Especially when we are stuck on doing it one way, we are fearful, or we don't believe in ourselves, so we make excuses.
I am here to inspire you and give you that nudge you need to get started. Don't worry about what he says, or she says, do it your way. If its fear holding you back, do it scared. If you are experiencing negative self-talk, talk to a life coach, therapist or trusted friend for help. Positive self-affirmations are also a great place to start to defeat self-doubt.
So, no more sleeping on your dreams. Wake up and make it happen. You've got this.
